Where does the data come from?

All company, officer, PSC (person with significant control) and filing data on Corpium is sourced directly from Companies House, the UK's official registrar of companies. Companies House is a government body, and by law (the Companies Act 2006) it must keep a public register of this information and make it available for anyone to inspect. This is often called "the public register" or "public record" — it is not private or confidential data, and it is not something we've scraped or obtained from an unofficial source. Corpium simply re-presents that same public information in a more searchable, readable format, and adds a small amount of derived context on top (such as AI-generated summaries and computed "time left" indicators) — it never adds or infers new facts about a person that Companies House hasn't already published.

Data protection & GDPR

We take data protection seriously, and we know officer and PSC data involves real people's names and details. Here's how we think about it, and what your rights are.

Why is it lawful to display director/PSC data?

Parliament decided, through the Companies Act 2006, that certain facts about every UK company — its officers, its persons with significant control, its registered address, and its filing history — should be a matter of public record, open to anyone. Companies House already publishes this data openly and without a login. Republishing that same, already-public information falls under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(e) (a task carried out in the public interest, since it originates from Companies House's own statutory public task) and/or Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interests — making public register data easier to search serves a real, legitimate purpose for the people who need it: due diligence, journalism, compliance checks, and so on).

What personal data is shown, and what isn't?

We only show what Companies House itself discloses publicly. That means:

• We do show: officer and PSC names, nationality, appointment/resignation dates, month and year of birth, and the general nature of their control (e.g. "voting rights 25–50%").
• We never show a full date of birth — Companies House itself redacts the day, and so do we.
• We never show residential addresses — officers and PSCs are only shown with a service address (usually the company's registered office or their agent's address), exactly as Companies House discloses it.
• We don't cross-reference this data against any other source to build a fuller profile of an individual.

Something about me is wrong, or I want it removed — what do I do?

Because we mirror the official register rather than being the original source, the most effective fix is usually at the source: if a detail is incorrect or out of date, ask the company to file a correction with Companies House, or use Companies House's own process for suppressing sensitive information (for example, if you have reason to believe disclosure could put you at risk). Once the register is updated, Corpium will pick up the change on our next refresh.
